Performance artist Juliana Luecking interviews women in NYC clubs, on the streets of San Francisco, and in the woods at the Michigan Women's Festival. The interviewees are street-smart, sex-radical, and fetish-happy. The result: a ground-breaking documentary, an artistic and unbelieveably candid look at lesbian sex. DreamCumGoDown boasts absolute authenticity.
Chas & Dave have never been hipper! Championed by Pete Doherty of the Libertines and Damen Alban of Blur, the band has a Greatest Hits package climbing the charts in England and will perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival. In the tradition of the Kinks and the Small Faces and around the same time as Ian Dury and Squeeze, Chas & Dave wrote and recorded exceptionally witty songs about life in London, performed with a strong affection for all things English. In their case, however, the musical accompaniment to their sharply observant material was neither rock nor punk but solid, no-nonsense rock'n'roll which had been their background and inspiration. These two albums on CD for the first time date from 1981-82, which was just about mid-career, and feature many of the bands top 10 hits. Remastered. Edsel. 2005.
This third CD of nothing-but-stories once again features Andy s Aunt Marguerite, that 80-something-year-old widow, recent medical school graduate, and chief-of-staff of Southern White Old Lady Hospital. On this record we ll learn how Marguerite became a self-described recovering racist. We ll discover how Andy created an undeniable ghost in the cemetery for his boyhood friends. We ll find out what happens when a deer looks in a mirror. There are flying rubber snakes, smashed watermelons, leaping Milk Duds, falling mannequins and roped-in beauty queens. Andy is Foghorn Leghorn meets Lily Tomlin meets William Blake. A native of Covington, GA, Andy started out in comedy, spending five years writing, directing and performing with SAK Theatre at Walt Disney World. When he returned to Georgia, he added music and storytelling because he had a lot more to say. He tours a lot, but when he's home he gets to be the host, storyteller, and audience trainer for the radio show, Evening Star, on Georgia Public Broadcasting. For sixteen years he was Artist-In-Residence at Oxford College of Emory University where he still butts in during rehearsals and does theatre workshops from time to time. He has had lots of more interesting life experience-type jobs including - but not limited to - actor; camp counselor; political satirist; youth director; janitor; deputy voter registrar; theatre orchestra conductor; garbage man; teacher; carpenter's flunky; and bullfrog tadpole catcher (Honest). Andy has been a featured storyteller at (but not limited to)...
